Kindergarten artist have been learning about artwork from different countries and cultures around the world! For the past few weeks they have been learning about the rituals and traditions of headdresses, focusing on three different native tribes.
L to R: Aztec warrior headdress, Lakota Sioux battle headdress, Zulu wedding headdress
Kindergarten artists identified various lines, shapes, colors and symbols in these headdresses and then discussed rituals and traditions in their own lives. Then they designed and executed their own headdresses to be worn for their own personal rituals and traditions. They applied drawing and various paper sculpture techniques to craft their headdresses and then shared them by participating in a class headdress festival. See some of their beautiful work below!
